orchitis

Inflammation of the testes. Etiology: viral - 20% of men with mumps - orchitis without epididymitis suggests mumps [4] - extension of bacterial infection from epidydymitis [4] Clinical manifestations: 1) diffuse testicular tenderness 2) parotitis preceding testicular pain by 1-2 weeks Radiology: - scrotal ultrasound - normal or increased blood flow to the testes Management: 1) bed rest 2) scrotal elevation 3) analgesics
