Tradename: Omacor, Lovaza (FDA-approved in 2004) Indications: - hypertriglyceridemia (only FDA-approved) - may reduce risk of recurrent heart attack [4] Dosage: 4 g/day Capsules: 1 g, 65 mg of EPA & 375 mg of DHA Lovaza contains 840 mg omega-3 fatty acids/capsule [7] Adverse effects: 1) large doses may inhibit platelet function & possibly cause bleeding 2) mix-ups with Amicar 3) may increase LDL cholesterol 4) may cause atrial fibrillation [8] Mechanism of action: - source of omega-3 fatty-acids Notes: Manufacturer: Reliant
