Function: - adapter protein required for Golgi & endoplasmic reticulum biogenesis - involved in Golgi & endoplasmic reticulum maintenance during interphase & in their reassembly at the end of mitosis - complex formed with VCP has membrane fusion activity; membrane fusion activity requires USO1-GOLGA2 tethering & BET1L, VCPIP1 is also required, but not its deubiquitinating activity - interacts with VCP - does not bind ubiquitin Structure: - belongs to the NSFL1C family - contains 1 SEP domain - contains 1 UBX domain Compartment: nucleus, cytoplasm, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi
