nicotinic acid/simvastatin (Simcor)

Indications: 1) hypercholesterolemia 2) not for initial therapy 3) reserve for patients who don't reach their goals with either agent alone Dosage: 1-2 tablets/day, maximum 2 tablets/day Tablets: - 20 mg of simvastatin - 3 niacin strengths: 500 mg, 750 mg, & 1000 mg Adverse effects: - flushing (59%), headache (4.5%), itching (3.2%), nausea (3.2%) - also see simvastatin & niacin
