- catalyzes phosphorylation of nicotinamide riboside & nicotinic acid riboside to form nicotinamide mononucleotide & nicotinic acid mononucleotide
- also phosphorylates the antitumor drugs tiazofurin & 3-deazaguanosine
- cofactor biosynthesis; NAD+ biosynthesis
ATP + N-ribosylnicotinamide = ADP + nicotinamide ribonucleotide
