Function:
- specific down-regulator of NEDD8 conjugation system
- recruits NEDD8, UBD, & their conjugates to the proteasome for degradation
- isoform 1 binds to & promotes the degradation of NEDD8 more efficiently than isoform 2
- interacts with NEDD8, PSMD4 (regulatory subunit of 26S proteasome)
- interacts with AIPL1
- interaction with UBD via UBA domains facilitates linking of UBD-conjugated target protein to the proteasome complex & accelerates UBD degradation & that of its conjugates

Expression:
- widely expressed
- lowest expression in pancreas for isoform 1
