nasopharyngeal airway
Advantages:
1) protects airway by preventing posterior movement of tongue
2) generally tolerated by conscious patient
Disadvantages:
- somewhat more difficult to insert than oral airway
Procedure:
1) measure nares to angle of jaw
2) cut to size
3) insert through nostril
4) insert with bevel side toward nasal septum
