nasal balloon autoinflation (Otovent)

Indications: - middle ear effusion Benefit/risk: - NNT = 9 [1] Procedure: - child closes one nostril with finger & blows into a balloon with the other nostril using a small device fitted to the balloon that forms a seal with the nostril (see video) [1] - 3 times daily
