myosin phosphatase Rho-interacting protein; Rho-interacting protein 3; M-RIP; RIP3; p116Rip (MRIP, MPRIP, KIAA0864, RHOIP3)
Function:
1) targets myosin phosphatase to the actin cytoskeleton
2) required for regulation of the actin cytoskeleton by RhoA & ROCK1
3) depletion leads to an increased number of stress fibers in smooth muscle cells through stabilization of actin fibers by phosphorylated myosin
4) overexpression of MRIP as well as its F-actin-binding region leads to disassembly of stress fibers in neuronal cells
5) binds F-actin through its N-terminus
6) binds RHOA, PPP1R12A/MBS & PPP1R12C/MBS85 through adjacent coiled coil domains
Structure: contains 2 PH domains
Compartment: cytoplasm, colocalizes with F-actin
Alternative splicing: named isoforms=3
