mylohyoid (diaphragma oris)

Muscle of the floor of the mouth. Origin: mylohyoid line of the mandible Insertion: upper border of the hyoid bone & adjacent raphe Action: 1) elevates floor of mouth & the tongue 2) depresses jow when the hyoid is fixed Innervation: -> nerve to the mylohyoid from the mandibular division of the trigeminal nerve (CN V)
