Reference interval: - a normal myeloid/erythroid ratio is 3-4/1 Procedure: - after a low power survey of a bone marrow aspirate, cells are examined under high power (oil-immersion) to identify the hematopoietic cells present - a total of 300-500 nucleated cells should be examined to obtain an estimate of the myeloid/erythroid ratio present in the bone marrow
