myeloid:erythroid ratio
Reference interval:
- a normal myeloid/erythroid ratio is 3-4/1
Procedure:
- after a low power survey of a bone marrow aspirate, cells are examined under high power (oil-immersion) to identify the hematopoietic cells present
- a total of 300-500 nucleated cells should be examined to obtain an estimate of the myeloid/erythroid ratio present in the bone marrow
