Indications: - bacterial infection with Mycoplasma Specimen: 1) respiratory fluid 2) bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid 3) store body fluids at 4 degrees C 4) store isolated nucleic acids at -80 degrees C Notes: - DNA probes detect total DNA or rRNA gene sequences - RT-PCR offers highly species-specific identification
