- diagnosis of tuberculosis
- provides faster turnaround than culture
* does not provide antimicrobial susceptibility information [3]
Specimen:
1) respiratory fluid including sputum, lung, urine, CSF
4) store body fluids at 4 degrees C
5) store tissue at -20 degrees C or below
Notes:
- PCR is a rapid & specific
- PCR, followed by oligonucleotide hybridization or nested PCR enhances specificity
