mumps antigen skin testing
Indications: assessment of cell-mediated immunity Children & adults:
1) 0.1 mL intradermally
2) examine site in 24-48 hours
3) positive reaction is >= 1.5 mm in diameter
Injection: 1 mL vials (10 tests)
Adverse effects:
- most common (1-10%)
- headache, pruritus, rash at injection site, nausea, anorexia, tenderness, abscess formation or regional lymph node sloughing, necrosis, severe delayed hypersensitivity reactions may cause tissue adenopathy, diaphoresis
