mitotic checkpoint protein BUB3 (budding inhibitied by benzimidazoles, BUB3)

Function: - has a dual function in spindle-assembly checkpoint signaling & in promoting the establishment of correct kinetochore-microtubule (K-MT) attachments - promotes the formation of stable end-on bipolar attachments - necessary for kinetochore localization of BUB1 - regulates chromosome segregation during oocyte meiosis - component of the BUB1/BUB3 complex - interacts with BUB1 & BUBR1 Structure: - belongs to the WD repeat BUB3 family - contains 5 WD repeats Compartment: nucleus. - kinetochore (putative) - tarts to localize at kinetochores in prometaphase 1 stage & maintains the localization until the metaphase 1 - anaphase 1 transition (putative) Alternative splicing: named isoforms=2
