Uses: - treatment of hepatitis * limited evidence it might be helpful for liver disease [1]; does not appear to be effective [2] Adverse effects: - milk thistle alone doesn't seem harmful [1] - myalgias [2] - abnormal liver function tests [2] - nausea, indigestion, diarrhea [2] Drug effect: - may interact with medications metabolized by CYP2C9 Drug interactions: - may interfere with metabolism of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 & CYP2C9
