malingering/Hoover test
Indications:
- identification of functional neurologic disorder, functional weakness
Procedure:
- with hand under affected knee, test hip extension
- have the patient push down against your hand
- hip extension is weak
- with hand on contralateral thigh, have the patient hip flex against your hand, while continuing to push against your hand under his/her affected knee
- hip extension is normal
