Indications: - urinary calculus Procedure: - crushing of a stone in the renal pelvis, ureters, or bladder by mechanical force or focused sound waves (ESWT) Complications: - shock wave lithotripsy associated with increased long-term risk of diabetes mellitus (odds ratio 3.8) [2] - not associated with increased risk of chronic hypertension [3]
