Etiology: - insulin Pathology: - thought to be the result of repeated trauma & possibly anabolic side effects of insulin Clinical manifestations: - occurs at injection site of repeated insulin injections - palpable, rubbery growth - hyperpigmentation uncommon Adverse effects: - labile control of blood glucose levels due to variable insulin absorption Management: - prevention - rotation of the site of insulin administration - use of finer needles
