leukocyte histamine release test

In vitro test that measures the amount of histamine released from leukocytes after exposure to antigen. Procedure: - an allergen extract (varyible concentrations) is added to peripheral blood leukocytes - histamine is normally released in response to interaction of allergen with cell surface IgE antibodies Clinical significance: - patients hypersensitive to a specific antigen will show histamine release Notes: - variability in results [1]
