lariat debranching enzyme (DBR1)
Function:
1) RNA processing activity that hydrolyzes the 2'-5' phosphodiester linkage at the branchpoint of excised intron lariats (after splicing)
- converts them into linear molecules that are subsequently degraded
2) facilitates ribonucleotide turnover
Cofactor: divalent metal cations
Kinetic parameters: Optimum pH is7.0
Compartment: nucleus
Alternative splicing: named isoforms=2
Pathology:
1) retrovirus replication via a RNA lariat intermediate in cDNA synthesis
2) cells lacking DBR1 show an inhibition of HIV-1 replication
General
hydrolase
