Laing early-onset distal myopathy

Genetics: - autosomal dominant - associated with defects in MYH7 Clinical manifestations: - differs from other distal myopathies in that onset is as early as 4 years of age - selective weakness of the anterior tibial muscles is followed by weakness of the finger extensors & selected proximal muscle groups such as the hip abductors & rotators, the shoulder abductors & the sternocleidomastoids
