Inability to completely close the eyes Etiology: - facial nerve palsy (CN7) - ichthyosis - upper blepharoplasty Pathology: - impairment of blinking - impaired function of tears Clinical manifestations: - severe dry eyes - eye pain/discomfort - visual impairment - unsatisfactory appearance Complications: - corneal ulceration - eye infection Management: - artificial tears - consult ophthalmologist
