Function: - involved in spindle formation & movements of chromosomes during mitosis & meiosis - binds to microtubules & to DNA - ubiquitinated, mediated by SIAH1 & leading to its subsequent proteasomal degradation (probable) - phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR Structure: - belongs to the kinesin-like protein family - contains 1 kinesin-motor domain Compartment: - nucleus - KNSL4 colocalizes with mitotic chromosomes - enriched in the kinetochore at anaphase
