kinectin; kinesin receptor; CG-1 antigen (KTN1, CG1, KIAA0004)

Function: 1) receptor for kinesin 2) kinesin-driven vesicle motility 2) accumulates in integrin-based adhesion complexes upon integrin aggregation by fibronectin 3) parallel homodimers formed between the membrane-bound & cytosolic form, & also between 2 cytosolic forms Compartment: - endoplasmic reticulum - vesicle membrane protein anchored to endoplasmic reticulum Alternative splicing: named isoforms=2 Expression: - expressed in peripheral blood lympocytes, testis, ovary > spleen, thymus, prostate, small intestine, colon Pathology: defects in KTN1 may be a cause of breast cancer
