- normal kidney size is > 11 cm, with the left kidney up to 1.5 cm longer than the right.
- small kidneys are < 10 cm pole to pole.

c) diabetes mellitus
3) acute glomerulonephritis
4) acute tubulointerstitial nephropathy
5) renal vein thrombosis
6) polycystic kidney disease
Calcifications:
1) urolithiasis
2) tuberculosis
3) aneurysms
4) renal papillary necrosis
