Indications: - preterm infants* [1] * likely of benefit for all newborns of all mammals Procedure: - early & continuous maternal skin-to-skin contact with newborn [1] Clinical significance: - 36% decrease in mortality among pre-term newborns - decrease in neonatal sepsis (47%), hypothermia, hypoglycemia, & hospital readmission - lesser degree of benefit in full-term infants [1]
