immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motif (ITIM)

Motifs in cytoplasmic domains of inhibitory receptors, involved in modulation of cellular responses. The phosphorylated ITIM motif can recruit SH2 domain-containing protein-tyrosine phosphatases, resulting in inactivation of NK cells.
