Indications: - peripheral arterial disease: assessment of severity Procedure: - noninvasive physiologic studies of lower extremity arteries, at rest & following treadmill stress testing - bidirectional Doppler waveform or volume plethysmography recording - ankle/brachial indices - time of onset of claudication or other symptoms - maximal walking time - time to recovery Laboratory: - serial specimen acquisition for muscle metabolites - serum lactate
