iothalamate (Conray, Conray-400)

Tradenames: Conray. (iothalamate meglumine) Conray-400 (iothalamate sodium) Indications: 1) parenteral agent for radiographic procedures (Conray) 2) parenteral agent used in urography, angiocardiography, & aortography Contraindications: Caution: 1) patients should be observed for 30-60 minutes for immediate hypersensitivity reactions 2) resuscitation equipment should be available prior to administration Dosage: Injection: 1) iothalamate meglumine: 60% (30 mL, 50 mL, 100 mL, 150 mL) 2) iothalamate sodium: 66.8% (50 mL) Mechanism of action: - IV contrast agent: ionic, high osmolality.
