Function: - recognizes the core sequence 5'-TAAACA-3' - binds to NFAT-like motifs (purine-rich) in IL2 promoter - also binds to HIV-1 long terminal repeat - may be involved in both positive & negative regulation of viral & cellular promoter elements - phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR Cofactor: binds 1 Mg+2 per subunit Structure: - C-terminal part of the DNA-binding domain may contribute to DNA recognition specificity - contains 1 FHA domain - contains 1 fork-head DNA-binding domain Compartment: nucleus (probable) Alternative splicing: named isoforms=3 Expression: - expressed in both lymphoid & non-lymphoid cells
