Function:
1) phosphorylation of Ins(1,4,5)P3 to yield Ins(1,3,4,5)P4
2) also phosphorylates Ins(2,4,5)P3 to yield Ins(2,3,4,5)P4
3) activated by Ca+2/calmodulin
4) inhibited by high concentrations of substrate Ins(1,2,4)P3,
5) allosteric activation by the product Ins(1,3,4,5)P4
Compartment:
- shuttles actively between nucleus & cytoplasm
- associated with both import & export activity
Expression:
- expressed in pancreas, skeletal muscle, liver, placenta > kidney, brain
Pathology:
- defects in ITPKC are a cause of Kawasaki disease
