inhibitor of growth protein 4; p29ING4; My036 protein (ING4)

Function: - component of the HBO1 complex - through chromatin acetylation, may function in DNA replication - may inhibit tumor progression through interaction with EP300, RELA & TP53 - can suppress brain tumor angiogenesis through transcriptional repression of RELA/NFKB3 target genes when complexed with RELA - may also specifically suppress loss of contact inhibition elicited by activated oncogenes such as MYC - inhibits hypoxia inducible factor by interacting with HIF prolyl hydroxylase 2 (EGLN1) - interacts with H3K4me3 & to a lesser extent with H3K4me2 - interacts with EP300, RELA & TP53 - interacts with EGLN1 Structure: - the PHD-type Zn+2 finger mediates the binding to H3K4me3 belongs to the ING family - contains 1 PHD-type Zn+2 finger Compartment: nucleus Alternative splicing: - named isoforms=8 - at least one isoform lacks the nuclear localization signal (NLS), resulting in increased cytoplasmic localization
