Premature termination of pregnancy with loss of fetus. Complications: - medical & surgical abortion have similar risk for subsequent adverse pregnancy outcomes - venous thromboembolism - hemorrhage - sepsis - shock Management: 1) 3 office visits required 2) 1st visit: 3 mifepristone tablets 3) 2 days later, 400 ug of buccal misoprostol [3] 4) doxycycline 100 mg PO BID [3] 5) follow-up after 2 weeks to confirm termination of pregnancy
