CD127; CDw127; interleukin-7 [IL-7] receptor-alpha (IL7RA, IL7R)

Function: - receptor for interleukin-7 - heterodimer of an alpha chain & a common gamma chain Structure: - WSXWS motif appears to be necessary for proper protein folding & thereby efficient intracellular transport & cell-surface receptor binding - box 1 motif is required for JAK interaction &/or activation - belongs to the type I cytokine receptor family, type 4 subfamily - contains 1 fibronectin F3 module Compartment: - isoforms H20, H1: cell membrane - isoform H6, secreted Alternative splicing: named isoforms=4 ;H20, H1, H6 Expression: - diminished expression of IL7R associated with longevity [7] Pathology: - polymorphism(s) in IL7R (alpha) associated with risk of multiple sclerosis
