hydrochlorothiazide/spironolactone; HCTZ/spironolactone (Aldactazide)

HCTZ/spironolactone 25/25 or 50/50. Indications: 1) management of mild to moderate hypertension 2) treatment of edema in congestive heart failure & nephrotic syndrome Containdications: Pregnancy category D Dosage: 1) 1-2 tabs PO QD 2) maximum: 8 tablets/day Adverse effects: - not common (1-10%) - headache, lethargy, rash, hyperkalemia, gynecomastia, hyperchloremic metabolic acidosis (in patients with hepatic cirrhosis), dehydration, hyponatremia, anorexia, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea
