homatropine (Isopto Homatropine)

Tradename: Isopto Homatropine. Indications: 1) cycloplegia & mydriasis for refraction 2) treatment of acute inflammatory conditions of the uveal tract 3) pre- & post-operative mydriasis Dosage: 1) mydriasis & cycloplegia a) 1-2 drops of 2% solution or 1 drop of 5% solution before procedure b) repeat as needed at 5-10 minute intervals 2) uveitis: 1-2 drops (2% or 5%) BID-TID PRN 2 & 5% (5 mL, 15 mL). Adverse effects: 1) common (> 10%) a) blurred vision b) photophobia 2) less common (1-10%) a) irritation b) increased intraocular pressure 3) uncommon (< 1%) a) vascular congestion b) edema c) drowsiness d) exudate e) eczematoid dermatitis f) follicular conjunctivitis
