acidic leucine-rich nuclear phosphoprotein 32 family member A; potent heat-stable protein phosphatase 2A inhibitor I1PP2A; acidic nuclear phosphoprotein pp32; leucine-rich acidic nuclear protein; Lanp; HLA-DR-associated protein I; PHAPI; mapmodulin (ANP32A, C15orf1, LANP, MAPM, PHAP1)

Function: - implicated in a number of cellular processes, including a) proliferation b) differentiation c) caspase-dependent & caspase-independent apoptosis d) suppression of transformation (tumor suppressor) e) inhibition of protein phosphatase 2A f) regulation of mRNA trafficking & stability in association with ELAVL1 g) inhibition of acetyltransferases as part of the INHAT complex (inhibitorof histone acetyltransferases) - role in E4F1-mediated transcriptional repression - phosphorylated on Ser - some Glu are glycylated by TTLL8 - occurs exclusively on Glu & results in a Gly chain on the gamma-carboxyl group (putative) - component of the SET complex - interacts with ATXN1/SCA1 - interacts with MAP1B (putative) - interacts with ELAVL1 - part of the INHAT (inhibitor of histone acetyltransferases) complex - interacts with E4F1 Structure: - the N-terminus is blocked - belongs to the ANP32 family - contains 4 LRR repeats (leucine-rich repeats) Compartment: - nucleus, cytoplasm - shuttles between nucleus & cytoplasm Expression: - expressed in all tissues tested - expressed in kidney & skeletal muscle > brain, placenta & pancreas > lung - found in all regions of the brain examined (amygdala, caudate nucleus, corpus callosum, hippocampus & thalamus), with highest levels in amygdala
