Function: - specifically binds to the DNA sequence 5'-GGGACTTTCC-3' which is found in the enhancer elements of numerous viral promoters such as those of SV40, CMV, or HIV1 - related sequences are found in the enhancer elements of a number of cellular promoters, including those of MHC class 1, IL2 receptor, somatostatin receptor 2, & interferon-beta genes - may have role in T-cell activation - interacts with TCF4 (putative) Structure: contains 4 C2H2-type Zn+2 fingers Compartment: nucleus Expression: - expressed in brain & skeletal muscle - induced by mitogens & phorbol ester
