histoplasmin (Histolyn-CYL)

Tradename: Histolyn-CYL. Indications: - antigen used in histoplasmosis skin testing - diagnosis of histoplasmosis in endemic areas - Histoplasma capsulatum [2] - used to assess cell-mediated immunity - used as a control in tuberculin skin testing Dosage: - adults a) 0.1 mL of a 1:100 dilution into volar surface of forearm b) induration of > 5 mm in diameter at 48-72 hours indicates a positive reaction Injection: 0.1 mL, 1.3 mL. Adverse effects: - not common (1-10%) - ulceration or necrosis may occur at the test site, pruritus, shortness of breath, urticaria Drug interactions: 1) any live virus vaccine 2) corticosteroids 3) immunosuppressive agents
