Heinz body

Deposits of hemoglobin in erythrocytes seen under the light microscope only after supravital staining, such as crystal violet. Etiology: 1) glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PD deficiency)subsequent to oxidative stress 2) Ivemark syndrome 3) unstable hemoglobin variants
