HA1/AP1 adaptor complex (clathrin assembly protein [AP]-1)

Function: - role in protein sorting in the trans-Golgi network (TGN) &/or endosomes - specifically recognizes or associates clathrin-coated vesicles within the trans-GOLGI - the AP complexes mediate both the recruitment of clathrin to membranes & the recognition of sorting signals within the cytosolic tails of transmembrane cargo molecules Structure: - heterotetramer composed - AP1G1 (gamma-type subunit) - AP1B1 (beta-type subunit) - AP1M1 or AP1M2 (mu-type subunit) - AP1S1, AP1S2 or AP1S3 (sigma-type subunit)
