Function:
- role in protein sorting in the trans-Golgi network (TGN) &/or endosomes
- specifically recognizes or associates clathrin-coated vesicles within the trans-GOLGI
- the AP complexes mediate both the recruitment of clathrin to membranes & the recognition of sorting signals within the cytosolic tails of transmembrane cargo molecules
