Golgin 45 (basic leucine zipper nuclear factor 1, JEM-1, p45 basic leucine-zipper nuclear factor, BLZF1, JEM1)

Function: 1) Golgi structure 2) protein transport from endoplasmic reticulum (ER) through Golgi to the cell surface 3) interacts with GRASP55 and with GTP-bound form of RAB2, but not with other Golgi Rab proteins 4) GRASP55 & BLZF1 form a RAB2 effector complex on medial Golgi Compartment: - Golgi lumen - isoform 1: nucleus - isoform 2: cytoplasm Alternative splicing: named isoforms=2 Expression: - ubiquitous - up-regulated by retinoids Pathology: - found in cell lines derived from several hematopoietic pathologies: T-cell leukemia, pro-B cell, pre-B cell, myeloma, & plasmacytoma cell lines, but not in Burkitt lymphoma cells
