Apparently, there is glucose co-transporter & a set of glucose tranporters (GLUT-X). The glucose co-transporter has binding sites for glucose & Na+. Expression: - GLUT-4 is the insulin-stimulated glucose transporter in skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle & adipocytes - GLUT-1 & GLUT-3 are the major glucose transporters expressed in the brain [3] - GLUT-4 & GLUT-8 are expressed in rat hippocampus
