Function: - binds to glucocorticoid modulatory element present in the tyrosine aminotransferase promoter - increases sensitivity to low concentrations of glucocorticoids - interacts with glucocorticoid receptor (NR3C1) & NCOA2/TIF2 - may interact with HSP27 & CREB-binding protein - binds also to the transferrin receptor promoter - homodimer, & heterodimer of GMEB1 & GMEB2 Structure: contains 1 SAND domain Compartment: nucleus. cytoplasm. Note: may be also cytoplasmic Alternative splicing: named isoforms=2 Pathology: - essential auxiliary factor for the replication of parvoviruses - GMEB1 & GMEB2 form the parvovirus initiator complex
