Attempt to standardize agglutination procedure for detecting anti-erythrocyte IgG. Indications: - anti-erythrocyte antibody (IgG) Procedure: - gel card 5 x 7 cm - 5 gel columns with dextran acrylamide gel - 50 ul RBC + 25 mL serum place on top of gel - 15 min incubation - 10 min centrifugation - anti IgG in serum Interpretation: - agglutinated red cells get retained by the gel - greater amounts of agglutination travel less far in the gel - 4+ agglutinated red cells remain at the top of the gel - unagglutinated red cells pellet at the bottom of the gel
