gallium nitrate (Ganite)

Tradename: Ganite. Indications: - treatment of symptomatic hypercalcemia of malignancy that has not responded to adquate hydration Dosage: 200 mg/m2 IV infusion for 5 consecutive days Injection: 25 mg/mL (20 mL) Adverse effects: 1) common (> 10%) - metallic taste, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, renal toxicity, hypophosphatemia 2) less common (1-10%) - hypocalcemia 3) uncommon (< 1%) - anemia, optic neuritis, hearing impairment 4) other - bone marrow toxicity
