galactose-3-O-sulfotransferase 3; gal3ST-3; beta-galactose-3-O-sulfotransferase 3; gal3ST3; gal-beta-1, 3-galNAc 3'-sulfotransferase 3 (GAL3ST3)

Function: - transfers a sulfate to position 3 of non-reducing beta-galactosyl residues in N-glycans & core2-branched O-glycans - high activity towards gal-beta-1,4-GlcNAc, gal-beta-1,4(fuc-alpha-1,3)GlcNAc - lower activity towards gal-beta-1,3(fuc-alpha-1,4)GlcNAc - protein modification; carbohydrate sulfation Cofactor: Mg+2 Kinetic parameters: - pH dependence: optimum pH is 7.0-8.0 Structure: belongs to the galactose-3-O-sulfotransferase family Compartment: - Golgi, Golgi stack membrane - single-pass type 2 membrane protein (probable) Expression: - highly expressed in thyroid, brain, kidney, heart & spinal cord
