fucosyltransferase 9; alpha-(1,3)-fucosyltransferase; fucosyltransferase IX; fuc-TIX; fucT-IX; galactoside 3-L-fucosyltransferase (FUT9)

Function: 1) transfers fucose to lacto-N-neotetraose - but not to either - alpha2,3-sialyl lacto-N-neotetraose - lacto-N-tetraose. 2) can catalyze last step in the biosynthesis of Lewis antigen, 3) addition of a fucose to precursor polysaccharides 4) protein glycosylation. Structure: belongs to the glycosyltransferase 10 family Compartment: - Golgi - single-pass type 2 membrane protein (putative) Expression: - expressed in forebrain, stomach > spleen, peripheral blood leukocytes - No expression in small intestine, colon, liver, lung, kidney, adrenal cortex, uterus
