forkhead box A (FOXA)
The forkhead box A family of transription factors are human homologous of PHA-4 of C elegans, linked to the longevity effects of calorie restriction in worms.
Function:
1) roles in development
2) regulation of glucagon production & glucose homeostasis in adults, especially in response to fasting
Specific
forkhead box protein A1; hepatocyte nuclear factor 3-alpha; HNF-3A (FOXA1)
